Wheatland Electric Colorado members vote to self-regulate.
In March, Colorado members of Wheatland Electric voted to self-regulate. All Colorado members were mailed a ballot on March 2nd, 2015 and given until March 23rd to return their completed ballot. A total of 34 ballots were mailed out and 19 ballots were returned for a 55% return rate.

As a result of the election, all members of Wheatland Electric are now self-regulated. In May, 2014, 78% of Wheatland’s Kansas members voted in favor of self-regulation. Having all members of Wheatland self-regulated will allow Wheatland to keep control of cooperative decisions local, provide increased flexibility and efficiency and lower costs for the membership by avoiding costly fees associated with rates cases and other costs associated with being a regulated utility.
