Barton County Historical Society Receives $1,000 Sharing Success Grant

BARTON COUNTY–Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. announced today that its Sharing Success Fund, managed by the Scott Community Foundation, has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Barton County Historical Society.

The funds will be used to purchase metal shelving units for their collections area.

“This grant will help ensure the continued care and preservation of historical items donated and entrusted to the Historical Society,” explained Richard Lartz, II, executive director of the Barton County Historical Society.

The mission of the organization is to preserve, exhibit and research the history of Barton County, Kans. and provide opportunities to share the county’s rich history with visitors as well as for generations to come.

The Scott Community Foundation began formally accepting applications for grants from the Wheatland Electric Sharing Success Fund from community-based organizations on December 1, 2012. Wheatland Electric and CoBank have each contributed $10,000 this year to the fund. The program will continue to run until the funds are exhausted.
