Syracuse Fire Dept. Receives $1,000 Sharing Success Grants

Syracuse, KS–Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WEC) announced today that its Sharing Success Fund, managed by the Scott Community Foundation, awarded a $1,000 grant to the Syracuse Fire Department.

The Syracuse Fire Department will use this grant to purchase mannequins to use in trainings. They will be used in search and rescue training or for extrication from vehicles. Trainings such as this allow firefighters to experience realistic scenarios and prepare for emergencies.

The Scott Community Foundation began formally accepting applications for grants from the Wheatland Electric Sharing Success Fund from community-based organizations on December 1, 2012. WEC and CoBank have each contributed $10,000 this again year to the fund. The program will continue to run until the funds are exhausted. Since 2012, the Sharing Success Fund has made $145,000 available to community-based organizations and projects across WEC’s service territory in southwest and central Kansas.
