Smart energy choices make a home more comfortable and power bills more affordable.

That’s why Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. offers several services to help cooperative members like you make their existing homes more energy efficient.

We offer rebate incentives to residential members for the purchase and/or installation of certain new equipment, including new heat pump and HVAC systems, advanced programmable thermostats, electric water heaters, electric radiant floor systems, and the purchase of a new electric vehicle. 

To qualify for incentives, participants must meet all program eligibility criteria and satisfy all installation requirements.

Our rebate programs are subject to change without prior notice and management reserves all discretion in determining applicant eligibility.

Learn More About Our Residential Rebates

Rebate amount: $200 per unit 

  • Limit two rebates per member per installation site per year.
  • Dual-fuel heat pumps are paid at the heat pump rate.
  • Mini-splits are paid at the HVAC rate. 
  • Gas and electric units are eligible. 
  • Window units are not eligible. 
  • Both indoor and outdoor units must be replaced. 
  • Rebate may not exceed cost of equipment and installation. 

Additional requirements: 

  • Application must be received within 60 days of installation
  • Installation must be performed by licensed HVAC contractor.
  • Must provide copy of invoice. 
  • Must provide copy of AHRI certificate and serial numbers.
  • Maximum of 65,000 BTU/hr (5.4 tons). 
  • Minimum 14.5 SEER. 
  • Must be properly sized to ASHRAE or ACCA Manual J standards. 

Note that the HVAC contractor is responsible for obtaining proper permits for equipment installation and ensuring that all municipal and county code requirements are satisfied.

Rebate amount: $50 per half ton installed 

  • Limit one rebate per member per installation site per year.
  • Dual-fuel heat pumps are paid at the heat pump rate.

Rebate amount: Lifetime tank warranty $100 per unit or non-lifetime tank warranty $100 per unit 

  • Limit two rebates per member per installation site per year.
  • Rebate may not exceed cost of equipment and installation. 
  • Gas, thermal and tankless water heaters are not eligible for rebate.

Rebate amount: $250 for battery electric vehicle (BEV) or $150 for plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV)

Rebate amount: $3 per square foot up to $500 per system 

  • Limit one rebate per member per installation site per year. 
  • Rebate may not exceed cost of system and installation. 
  • Electric based systems only; water systems are not eligible for rebate.

Program Eligibility Criteria

A residential participant must meet all the following eligibility criteria to qualify for incentives: 

  1. Participant must be a WEC residential member or WEC landlord revert in good standing.(Dealers may not participate.)
  2. Installation site must be an existing single-family home (new construction is not eligible).
  3. Installation site must be located within WEC’s service area and receive electric service from WEC.
  4. Purchase/installation is for new equipment only.
  5. Participant must complete and submit appropriate Rebate Application(s) within deadlines.
  6. Participant or residential site may not receive more than $1,500 in rebates in any given rebate year.
  7. Other criteria as outlined for specific rebates.

Rebate year/program is based on date application is received.
