Caldwell, KS – Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. announced today that its Sharing Success Fund, managed by the Scott Community Foundation, has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Caldwell Art Brigade.

The Caldwell Art Brigade (CAB), is a downtown non-profit arts group created to cultivate an ongoing vibe in downtown Caldwell with paint, live music scene, lecture series, theater performances, traveling shows, and exhibits. CAB efforts also include a community-wide, volunteer-based effort to paint downtown murals and beautify the community.

Sharing Success grant funds will be used toward funding the “Firehouse Community Wall” project, which is generating a lot of excitement. Community members get to participate by creating a 2x2 quilt block design for the Firehouse west wall which was exposed when an adjoining building collapsed. This community project includes two murals in one, beautifying the well-traveled route from the school and city park/pool to downtown.

The Scott Community Foundation began formally accepting applications for grants from the Wheatland Electric Sharing Success Fund from community-based organizations on December 1, 2012.  Wheatland Electric and CoBank have each contributed $10,000 this again year to the fund. The program will continue to run until the funds are exhausted. Since 2012, the Sharing Success Fund has made $125,000 available to community-based organizations and projects across Wheatland’s service territory.
