Central Kansas Dream Center Received $1,000 Sharing Success Grant from Wheatland Electric

Great Bend, KS – Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. announced today that its Sharing Success Fund, managed by the Scott Community Foundation, has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Central Kansas Dream Center.

The Central Kansas Dream Center serves more than 400 people a week through a number of faith-based ministries, including a women and children’s shelter; a nine-month in-house discipleship program; a yearlong residential treatment program for trafficking victims; a program to help teens who have aged out of foster care; Kingdom Kloset, a boutique that provides clothing, linens, and household items and the DC kitchen which has served over 30,000 hot meals in the past year.

Sharing Success grant funds will be used to purchase items needed to support the Dream Center’s efforts, reaching hurting people, restoring families, and realizing dreams by providing the people they serve with a sense of physical, spiritual, and emotional security. 

The Scott Community Foundation began formally accepting applications for grants from the Wheatland Electric Sharing Success Fund from community-based organizations on December 1, 2012.  Wheatland Electric and CoBank have each contributed $10,000 this again year to the fund. The program will continue to run until the funds are exhausted. Since 2012, the Sharing Success Fund has made $125,000 available to community-based organizations and projects across Wheatland’s service territory.
