Help Your Organization Win a $2,500 Sharing Success Grant!

All News

SCOTT CITY–For the fifth consecutive year, Wheatland Electric Cooperative Inc., is giving away a grant from its Sharing Success Fund to a deserving organization located within its service territory, chosen by social media followers and fans!

The Sharing Success Charity Challenge begins 8 A.M. CT on Oct. 21, and will run through 11:59 AM CT (just before noon) on Nov. 11, 2024. The public challenge is run entirely on our official Facebook page.

This year for the second year in a row, to increase the stakes, the winner of our challenge will be awarded a $2,500 Sharing Success grant, which is more than double our award from previous years ($1,000)!

Members of the public can help their favorite organization (or other community-based charitable cause) win the $2,500 Sharing Success grant by nominating one or more organizations starting on Oct. 21 and then rallying their friends and family during three consecutive rounds of voting on Facebook.

Now, more than ever with the upcoming holiday season, Wheatland Electric recognizes the significance of helping one another, giving thanks, and paying it forward.

That’s because cooperatives like us are governed by core principles, including one of the most important: concern for community. This principle encourages the cooperative to work toward the sustainable development of our communities through policies supported by its members.

In addition, democratic member control is another of Wheatland’s guiding principles, and during this charity challenge on Facebook, the cooperative is transferring the decision-making power to its cooperative members and Facebook fans and followers.

To participate, Facebook users should visit Wheatland’s official Facebook page starting Oct. 21 and nominate (or tag, preferably) their favorite local organization or community-based cause in our Sharing Success Charity Challenge social post, which will be pinned to the top of our Facebook page.

The nominee must be an organization that serves members within our service territory and must not have already received a Sharing Success grant during our 2024 grant cycle. (For a complete list of grant recipients that are ineligible, see below.)

Participants should not only tag their favorite charitable or community-based organization but also tag their friends and family to garner more “LIKES.” These “LIKES” will count as individual votes toward the nominated organization. Voting on this first round will run through Oct. 28 at 11:59 AM CT.

Starting Oct. 29, four eligible organizations with the most “likes” during the previous round will advance to a Final Four round, where they will square off for the top prize. Participants can once again vote by “liking” their favorite contender though Nov. 4 at 11:59 AM CT.

The top two organizations from our Final Four round will advance and battle for the Sharing Success title starting Nov. 5.

Voting during the championship title round will continue through Nov. 11, ending at 11:59 AM CT, during which participants and fans are once again asked to root for their favorite organization and rally fellow fans to their cause.

The cooperative’s Sharing Success Charity Challenge winner will then be announced subsequent to the close of the online competition. As a friendly reminder, “LIKES” must be on Wheatland’s original posts to count towards the voting process.
