Conway Springs, KS – Wheatland Electric Cooperative, Inc. announced today that its Sharing Success Fund, managed by the Scott Community Foundation, has awarded a $1,000 grant to USD 356 Conway Springs Schools for the Support OWLS project.
The Support OWLS project, spearheaded by Chris Bellar, is an initiative by the school district to build a wildlife area with native plants, learning center and gardening area which will promote hands-on learning for students at every grade level, explained Superintendent Clay Murphy. Community members are also invited to visit the wildlife area to walk, sit and take in the beauty of the pollinator garden, or watch the progress of student projects as they grow, plant and harvest native plants and produce. This is the first year of a multi-year project.
