You Choose In This Sharing Success Charity Challenge!

If you’re like us, you missed March Madness this year. But, never fear because we have a new bracket challenge for you!

It’s our Giving Goodness challenge on Facebook, which will begin Monday, Oct. 26, and will run through Nov. 12, 2020. In this tournament of charities, members like you can vote for your favorite non-profit or charitable organization to win a $1,000 Sharing Success grant from Wheatland Electric!

Now, more than ever during this season of giving, we recognize the importance of helping one another, giving thanks, and paying it forward.

That’s because co-operatives like us are governed by core principles, including one of our most important: concern for community. This ideal encourages us to work toward the sustainable development of our communities through policies supported by our members.

What’s more, democratic member control is another of our guiding principles. In this challenge on Facebook, we’re transferring the decision-making power to members like you!

To participate, visit our official Facebook page starting Oct. 26 and tag your favorite local charity in our Giving Goodness charity challenge post. The charity must be a not-for-profit organization within our service territory and must not have received a Sharing Success grant during 2020. (For a complete list of local charities who are past recipients and therefore ineligible, see below.)

Members should not only tag their favorite charity, but also tag their friends and family to garner more “likes.” These “likes” will count as votes toward the nominated organization. Voting on this first round will run through Oct. 31, 2020, at 11:59 PM CST.

Starting Nov. 2, four eligible charities with the most “likes” will advance to our Final Four, where they will square off once more in this bracket-style tournament. Members can once again vote by liking their favorite contender though Nov. 8, 2020, at 11:59 PM CST.

The top two charities from our Final Four round will advance and battle for the title starting Nov. 9. Voting will continue through Nov. 12, ending at 11:59 PM CST that day. Members are once again asked to root for their favorite charity and rally fellow fans to their cause. As a friendly reminder, “likes” must be on our original posts to count towards the voting process. Our winning charity team will then be announced on Friday, Nov. 13!
